Screen Style: USA's legal drama Suits has more Canadian connections than you think

Wikipedia

USA's legal drama Suits just began filming its sixth season in this week.

Meghan Markle/Facebook

With the help of the show's wardrobe stylist Jolie Andreatta, the on-screen style is divine (especially Harvey Specter's (Gabriel Macht) endless Tom Ford attire) and we often find ourselves coveting nearly every outfit we see on the screen.

Mashable

As simple and classic as a cardigan and pencil shirt may be, Andreatta has that special touch of making it all seem effortless. According to The Tig, a few of the labels she uses includes Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Jil Sander, and, of course, many Christian Louboutin pumps.

Fashion aside, the popular show is American but has a few quirky Canadian fashionable connections as well.

FILMING
Although the show is supposed to be based in New York City, the majority of the filming is done in Toronto, Canada (deemed one of the most stylish cities in the country). The show features the well-known Bay Adelaide Centre, and often enough viewers can see the TCC street cars in the background.

BFF's
Meghan Markle who plays Rachel Zane on the show is good friends with fashion strategist Jessica Mulroney (who is married to e-talk's Ben Mulroney, son of the former Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney), who styles Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, the wife of our current Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

COLLABS
Sarah Rafferty who plays Donna Paulsen on the show recently collaborated with Vancouver designer MEZZI, for their Cosima bag. The bag features smart technology and can charge your smartphone and iPad. MEZZI fits the show's vibe to a tee with it's modern clean lined aesthetic.

While you're anxiously waiting for the next season to air, Netflix offers seasons one through four, and five is currently available on iTunes.

Dressing for Success with Canadian Coveted Label Judith & Charles

Our Editor-in-Chief Jessica Eritou was invited to attend the Women in Communications and Technology's "Time for Real Change: Mentorship and Opportunites for Women in Communication and Technology" at the Rideau Club this week.

It was a great panel discussion focusing on the political landscape and opportunities available for women in the capital.

Judith & Charles dressed her for the occasion featuring all new pieces from their Spring collection. The Canadian label caught the attention of the fashion world when Sophie Gregoire Trudeau was spotted in their "Close Dress" for the Canada 2020 reception in Washington D.C.

Feminine touches with hints of menswear are a constant theme to the label. According to the label, once she, the client, is familiar with her size, the consistent quality of tailoring will allow her to know how each of their pieces will fit.

The label also has strong ties to Canada. Ninety per cent of the clothes made by Judith & Charles are locally manufactured, which supports local economies.

For Jessica's look, the company dressed in their French blue Beckmann jacket. It is perfect for making a bold statement, and very appropriate for business functions due to the modern tailoring and tuxedo collar.

As the jacket was the main focal point, the Swanson blouse is the perfect piece to wear underneath, which features a very flattering neckline.

To bring the look all together Judith & Charles' flattering flat front Takashi pant ties in the black single button on the Beckmann jacket, and as well if you choose to roll up the jacket's sleeves.

A big Thank You to Judith & Charles, as well as Margaux, Sandra, and Maria from the company for making this happen.

What Sophie Wore: Perfect in Pink Tartan

Tonight, Prime Minster Justin Trudeau and wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau are in New York for the 2016 Catalyst Awards Dinner. PMJT delivered a key note on gender equality, and his team's incentive to have more women running for leadership roles in politics.

Justin looked good as always, but we thought Sophie really took the spot light in her stunning Pink Tartan tuxedo. As expected, this outfit is another piece from a Canadian luxury label. We hope to see her wear more from them.

What Sophie Wore: Lucian Matis, Aldo, and Zvelle

Huffington Post Canada Style
Huffington Post Canada's Style section confirmed what Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau's Canadian designer was ensemble today for her, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's second day in Washington, D.C. For all three days in Washington, Ms. Gregoire-Trudeau will be wearing head-to-toe Canadian labels, with the help of Jessica Mulroney.

Tonight is the anticipated Canada State Dinner, hosted by President Barack Obama, and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Huffington Post Canada/CP Images
Today, Sophie sported a lovely dress from Lucian Matis, pink pointed toe pumps from Zvelle, and a poppy red clutch from Aldo.

Highlights: At first glance, Sophie's bright pink heels and the complimentary pink accents on her dress, grab our attention first.

Significance: The silhouette of the dress is quite conservative and appropriate for the occasion, yet the pattern and cut-out pattern blocking livens up her look and brings energy to this photo op.

Overall: Perfectly executed. We are really pleased with how Sophie wore bright pink pumps instead of a safe poppy red (and playing it super safe), as it brings out the accent on her Lucian Matis dress. Her dress is quite busy, so it was great to have her hair tied back with a polished pony as well to make the dress the focal point.

Get the Look: Sophie's Coat on Remembrance Day

Image: THE CANADIAN PRESS/Adrian Wyld

Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau with her husband, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau paid their respects today in Ottawa for Remembrance Day at the National War Memorial downtown.

Styled by Jessica Mulroney (yes, same Mulroney family - she's married to etalk's Ben Mulroney) and the help from Hudson's Bay The Room, Sophie wore a tailored gray coat and weather appropriate Chloche hat for the off-and-on rain we were expecting in Ottawa.

Highlights: The muted gray-on-gray look from Sophie's hat, to her turtleneck, to her coat. Simplicity and monochromatic at it's best. The soft black and grey accents from the Chloche hat are tied in with the buttons on the coat, which match her leather gloves and boots.

Significance: The monochromatic grayscale also allows her poppy to stand out and make an impact on the important day. This is a more serious ceremony, so by choosing to wear something more conservative and muted is in very good taste rather than something loud and attention grabbing.

Overall: Very polished, and very respectable.

This coat is by the same label Sentaler, Sophie wore for the Swearing-In ceremony as it was too styled by Jessica.

For those who are yearning to grab Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau's November 4th Swear-In Ceremony outfit for themselves, Ottawa Magazine reports Montreal label, Erdem is the label of the dress she wore as she watched her husband Justin Trudeau swear-in to be the next Prime Minister of Canada.

She sported another Canadian label, Sentaler's, luxurious off-white camel coat with a coordinating amazing beaded wool-crepe dress which was delightfully a notch above a cocktail dress, yet still very conservative for inside Rideau Hall.

As Ottawa Magazine reports, the dress retails for approximately $3500 CDN.

Sentaler's coat (includes a removable fur collar) retails for $1795 CDN.
