Screen Style: USA's legal drama Suits has more Canadian connections than you think

Wikipedia

USA's legal drama Suits just began filming its sixth season in this week.

Meghan Markle/Facebook

With the help of the show's wardrobe stylist Jolie Andreatta, the on-screen style is divine (especially Harvey Specter's (Gabriel Macht) endless Tom Ford attire) and we often find ourselves coveting nearly every outfit we see on the screen.

Mashable

As simple and classic as a cardigan and pencil shirt may be, Andreatta has that special touch of making it all seem effortless. According to The Tig, a few of the labels she uses includes Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Jil Sander, and, of course, many Christian Louboutin pumps.

Fashion aside, the popular show is American but has a few quirky Canadian fashionable connections as well.

FILMING
Although the show is supposed to be based in New York City, the majority of the filming is done in Toronto, Canada (deemed one of the most stylish cities in the country). The show features the well-known Bay Adelaide Centre, and often enough viewers can see the TCC street cars in the background.

BFF's
Meghan Markle who plays Rachel Zane on the show is good friends with fashion strategist Jessica Mulroney (who is married to e-talk's Ben Mulroney, son of the former Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney), who styles Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, the wife of our current Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

COLLABS
Sarah Rafferty who plays Donna Paulsen on the show recently collaborated with Vancouver designer MEZZI, for their Cosima bag. The bag features smart technology and can charge your smartphone and iPad. MEZZI fits the show's vibe to a tee with it's modern clean lined aesthetic.

While you're anxiously waiting for the next season to air, Netflix offers seasons one through four, and five is currently available on iTunes.

Here's What Michelle's Been Wearing in Cuba

Getty
For their own State Dinner visit, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have arrived in Cuba.

While currently sticking to the themes of florals lately, Michelle should continue on wearing them as it suits her to a tee. Her first dress upon arriving to Cuba was a bold dotted and rose-printed dress from Carolina Herrera retailing at $2190.

For the two-day trip, Michelle also donned another floral dress this time by Naeem Khan (who also just recently dressed Malia and Sasha Obama for the Canada State Dinner) for their own State Dinner in Cuba. Naeem Khan has been a fashion favourite for Michelle over the years.

To purchase a similar dress from Carolina Herrera, we suggest this one with cap sleeves which has the exact pattern and cut from Neiman Marcus for $2190.

To purchase Naeem Khan dresses, we suggest trying Bergdorf Goodman for his latest collection.

What Malia and Sasha Obama Wore to the 2016 State Dinner

According to WWD, Malia and Sasha Obama, both wore designer Naeem Khan for the Canada State Dinner hosted by their parents, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau.

It was a first for both daughters to attend a State Dinner. Perhaps coincidental, it was in 2009 when Michelle Obama wore Naeem Khan for her first State Dinner as First Lady.

Malia wore a nude strapless dress, and Sasha picked a floral lace and velvet inset dress. Both dresses were very appropriate and stylish for the event.

Rona Ambrose is Killing it in Kitchener

Facebook
The Hon. Rona Ambrose was spotted in Kitchener, Ontario on March 2 with Harold Albrecht to host a roundtable at Communitech regarding high-tech start-ups.

Ms. Ambrose was super stylish with a taupe relaxed open jacket, leather trousers, and black suede booties.

Highlights: Our favourite piece from the look today has to be the jacket, hands down. This jacket reminds us of some of the work from Rick Owens, who is known for his coveted leather jackets. It is timeless and suitable for occasions like this one.

Significance: Ms. Ambrose picked and perfected an appropriate outfit today as her contemporary jacket gives off an easy-going vibe. Thus, it creates a comfortable, approachable, easy-going environment for the talk today, as opposed to something very conservative and tailored.

Overall: We want just about everything from Ms. Ambrose's closet, so this is no surprise to us. Perfect ensemble.

If you are looking a jacket similar to Ms. Ambrose's jacket we recommend one from Rick Owen's at NET-A-PORTER, for $2510.

Interim Leader Rona Ambrose's Best Looks for 2015

As you may know the CPC have a new Interim Leader Rona Ambrose. We want to congratulate Ms. Ambrose for her new role for the party.

Hon. Rona Ambrose seems to have always had impeccable taste to her style and fashion choices. She has some of the best jackets out of anyone on the Hill. Ambrose tends to pull off very tailored silhouettes in dark deep colours with small accents. If she is in seen a lighter colour, the garment tends to have plentiful texture and weight to it.

We wish her the very best in the new year, for the new and refreshed party!

Here are our favourite looks of hers in 2015:

(Our number 1 pick. What makes this outfit even better is the fact Ms. Ambrose pairs the dress and skirt with a platform bootie. A pump, would have been okay, but the bootie amps up the coolness.)

(We want to shop in her closet. This jacket phenomenal.)

(Love the zipper details.)

(A simple blouse would be predictable, but the patterned gray neutral freshes this look up while keeping it effortless and polished.)

(This look is stylish, corporate, feminine, flattering, and appropriate for her job and here lies the proof you can look professional without being boring.)

(A bold look as Ms. Ambrose pulls it off so well with the detail around the neckline, almost like a scarf.)

If you like Ms. Ambrose's style we recommend Canadian label judith + charles for similar suits, jackets, and skirts.

For those who are yearning to grab Sophie GrĂ©goire-Trudeau's November 4th Swear-In Ceremony outfit for themselves, Ottawa Magazine reports Montreal label, Erdem is the label of the dress she wore as she watched her husband Justin Trudeau swear-in to be the next Prime Minister of Canada.

She sported another Canadian label, Sentaler's, luxurious off-white camel coat with a coordinating amazing beaded wool-crepe dress which was delightfully a notch above a cocktail dress, yet still very conservative for inside Rideau Hall.

As Ottawa Magazine reports, the dress retails for approximately $3500 CDN.

Sentaler's coat (includes a removable fur collar) retails for $1795 CDN.
