stylexsnap: Nicholas, senior multimedia monitoring analyst at PCO

Welcome readers to stylexsnap, a new regular column on CAPITAL HILL STYLE. If you are stylin' in the Parliamentary Precinct, we'll stop you in your tracks, capture it and chat about the individual fashion elements that collectively make you stand out in the capital scene. Here is our first subject.

Meet Nicholas. He’s all things digital at PCO. That’s Privy Council Office.

What caught the attention of CAPITAL HILL STYLE is his bold ensemble of accessories and extras, definitely unique to what we expect to see in the Precinct. We appreciate how Nicholas wears lighter colours and fabrics while pulling off a modern polished look.

Let’s focus in a little closer. Because, with Nicholas, it is all in the detail.

First – the knot.
His tie sits tight in an Eldredge knot
“I love the Eldredge knot. It adds a little flair to a very traditional style,” says Nicholas. “Plus you get to pick the length of the tie right off the bat, unlike the Windsor.”

Next, check out that pocket square.
As he tells us, he prefers keeping the silk accessory messy, not folded.

This hand-made, reversible pocket square is straight from local Ottawa designer, The Wardrobe Stylist. Available at her etsy.com store, Pairing Paisleys, for $25.

Then, we have the glasses. The classic Ray-Ban Clubmaster. Yes indeed, those frames are made of real wood.

And, we can’t let him go without his comment on his prized man-bun. “Own the man bun,” he says. “Shrug off the haters. I’m proud of it.”

And, Nicholas is off. Back to work on Sparks Street.
